LA PERUANA QUE VOLVIÓ DEL PAÍS DE LA ESPERANZA

María Rosario Razzetto es el ejemplo viviente de lo que puede la sensibilidad humana y la solidaridad internacional.

Durante 26 años llevó a cuestas un drama que creía iba a terminar pronto con la muerte. Hoy recuperó su pierna derecha, la alegría y su derecho a vivir feliz.

Es como si hubiera vuelto a la vida, es como si la desesperanza se hubiera convertido en un nuevo futuro. Fue necesaria la solidaridad de mucha gente, el deseo de ayudar y resolver un problema, el que permitió que María Rosario Razetto, una modesta ama de casa peruana, recuperara en tres meses la alegría de vivir.

La tragedia de María se había prolongado muchísimo tiempo, más de la mitad de sus 45 años. Empezó en 1982, hace 26 años, cuando ella sólo tenía 19. La primera lesión apareció en forma de una especie de picadura sobre el dedo gordo del pie derecho, la cual poco a poco fue creciendo y engrosándose en un proceso que la preocupó más y más.

Los tratamientos locales no dieron ningún resultado. La pierna derecha crecía y crecía de manera descomunal, en forma de un absceso deforme y terrible que rodeaba toda su pierna y le impedía caminar. Su hogar se rompió y se quedó sola con sus dos hijos. Todos se condolían pero nadie tenía una solución: “Es elefantiasis” concluyeron algunos médicos; otros dijeron que era “una picadura de araña con daño irreversible”. Le dieron incluso solo dos años más de vida, porque la lesión iba ganando terreno y comprometía el corazón. Otros le propusieron amputarle la pierna.

EL ANGEL SALVADOR

Hasta que un día la esperanza tomó forma frente a María en la persona de un médico norteamericano, de la famosa Clínica Mayo, quien conoció su caso al venir a Lima a un congreso médico. Samir Mardini, para suerte de María, había seguido un curso en Taiwán sobre cirugía reconstructiva, por lo cual consultó el caso con el Hospital E-Da de la ciudad de Kaohsiung donde había estudiado.

La respuesta fue inmediata. El Director del Hospital E-Da, Chen-hung Chi, envió a Lima a evaluar el caso al Dr. Chang Chai-hau, quien habla castellano. El 9 de noviembre María Rosario Razzeto fue llevada a Taiwán en compañía de su hijo, y durante una semana fue sometida a los más exhaustivos análisis por parte de un equipo médico. El hospital E-Da, recién fue creado hace 3 años y medio, se especializa en microcirugía reconstructiva y cuenta con los más avanzados equipos y tecnología.

Los análisis determinaron que se trataba de un edema linfático. El linfoedema es un edema (fuerte aumento de volumen) de una o ambas piernas debido al deterioro en la circulación linfática, causado por la inflamación, la obstrucción, o la supresión de las vías linfáticas.

El 16 de noviembre pasado fue operada por un equipo de 15 especialistas, y le extrajeron un tumor de 47 kilos de peso que había rodeado toda su pierna derecha pero, felizmente, sin comprometer el músculo. La operación duró ocho horas y en ella participaron especialistas en cirugía plástica, radiología, cardiología, metabolismo, medicina pulmonar, hematología, enfermedades infecciosas, radiografía, rehabilitación física, oncología, psiquiatría, nutrición, cuidados intensivos, etc.

Luego del proceso de recuperación, en la cual la paciente puso toda su colaboración, la paciente ha regresado al Perú el 1 de febrero; es decir, en menos de tres meses cambió radicalmente su existencia.

Como es lógico no está del todo repuesta; deberá seguir un proceso de rehabilitación para recuperar el pleno dominio de su miembro inferior derecho, y así lo han solicitado los médicos taiwaneses a la unidad de rehabilitación física del Hospital Loayza de Lima. En Kaohsiung recibió un tiempo de rehabilitación y la paciente llegó a caminar por sí sola, el ángulo de movimiento de la rodilla ha aumentado hasta 120 grados (antes de la operación, el nudo de la rodilla no podía moverse por el grosor de los tejidos).

UNA NUEVA SONRISA

Posteriormente deberá ser sometida a una operación complementaria para eliminarle un quiste pequeño que aún subsiste; pero lo peor ha pasado. Ella luce incluso una nueva sonrisa, porque la enfermedad y los trastornos emocionales y alimenticios habían hecho que perdiera la parte superior de su dentadura quedándose solo con un diente. El Alcalde de Kaohsiung, quien la visitó en su lecho de recuperación luego de ser operada, le obsequió los implantes dentales necesarios para que recobrara su buen aspecto, lo cual fue hecho con técnicas, equipos y materiales taiwaneses.

Ahora la paciente se encuentra contenta y conmovida entre lágrimas por lo que llama su “nueva pierna” y de saber también que va a empezar una nueva vida.

Al dialogar con periodistas a su retorno a Lima tiene gratos recuerdos para quienes la ayudaron a superar esta dramática etapa de su vida. Por ejemplo, dice que las enfermeras que la cuidaban eran tan amables que hasta aprendieron algunas palabras en español con ella.

Durante su recuperación en Kaohsiung la paciente peruana fue visitada también por el Representante de la Oficina Comercial del Perú en Taiwán, el Sr. José Yzaguirre, quien expresó su agradecimiento a los habitantes de Taiwán.

DOS HISTORIAS PARALELAS

Vale la pena mencionar que el costo del tratamiento en Taiwán supera los 50 mil dólares. Todo el tratamiento (incluyendo el pasaje) fue provisto por el Hospital E-Da, que fue fundado por el Sr. YS Lin.

El Sr. Lin es dueño de una firma de acero inoxidable. El fue sometido a un transplante de hígado hace 8 años. El transplante logró tanto éxito que ahora el es más activo en su trabajo y más próspero en sus negocios.

Fue por ello que el Sr. Lin decidió construir un hospital de primera para los campesinos pobres en el sur de Taiwán.

Las historias de la Sra. Razzeto y la del Sr. Lin son muy dramáticas y conmovedoras: Ambos gozan de una nueva vida tras haber sido pacientes de importante cirugía.

Pero en el Caso de María Rosario hay algo adicional. La Solidaridad sin Fronteras representada por Taiwán, una Nación asiática que viene demostrando con hechos que posee el avance científico necesario y la sensibilidad social que ameritan que forme parte de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, lo cual le viene siendo negado por la ONU debido a la oposición de China continental.

María Rosario Razzetto is the alive example of what can the human sensibility and the international solidarity.

During 26 years it took a drama that she believed on the back it will finish soon with the death. Today it recovered their right leg, the happiness and their right to live happy.

It is as if she has returned to the life, it is as if the despair had become a new future. It was necessary a lot of people's solidarity, the desire to help and to solve a problem, the one that allowed María Rosario Razetto, a modest owner of Peruvian house, to recover in three months the happiness of living.

María's tragedy had been prolonged a lot of time, more than half of its 45 years. It began in 1982, 26 years ago, when she only had 19. The first lesion appeared in form of kind of a sting on the fat finger of the right foot, the one which little by little was growing and being augmented in a process that worried it more and more.

The local treatments didn't give any result. The right leg grew and it grew in an enormous way, in form of an unsightly and terrible abscess that surrounded all its leg and it prevented him to walk. Their home broke and it was alone with its two children. All sympathized with but nobody had a solution: "It is elephantiasis" some doctors concluded; others said that "it was a spider sting with irreversible damage". They even gave her single two years more than life, because the lesion went winning land and it committed the heart. Other they intended him to amputate him the leg.

THE ANGEL SALVADOR

Until one day the hope took form in front of María in the person of a North American doctor, of the famous Clinical May who met its case when coming to Lima to a medical congress. Samir Mardini, for luck of María, it had followed a course in Taiwan it has more than enough reconstrutive surgery, reason why it consulted the case with the Hospital E-Da of the city of Kaohsiung where he had studied.

The answer was immediate. The Director of the Hospital E-Da, Chen-hung Chi, sent to Lima to evaluate the case to the Dr. Chang Chai-hau who speaks spanish. November 9 María Rosario Razzeto was taken to Taiwan in her son's company, and during one week she was subjected to the most exhaustive analyses on the part of a medical team. The hospital E-Da, newly it was created 3 and a half years ago, it specializes in reconstructive microsurgery and it has the most advanced teams and technology.

The analyses determined that it was a lymphatic edema. The linfoedema is an edema (strong increase of volume) of an or both legs due to the deterioration in the lymphatic circulation, caused by the inflammation, the obstruction, or the suppression of the lymphatic roads.

Passed November 16 were operated by a team of 15 specialists, and they extracted him a tumor of 47 kilos of weight that had surrounded all their right leg but, happily, without committing the muscle. The operation lasted eight hours and in her specialists participated in plastic surgery, radiology, cardiology, metabolism, lung medicine, hematology, infectious illnesses, it x-rays, physical rehabilitation, oncology, psychiatry, nutrition, intensive cares, etc.

After the recovery process, in which the patient put all her collaboration, the patient has returned to Peru on February 1; that is to say, in less than three months it radically changed their existence.

As it is logical it is not restored completely; it will follow a rehabilitation process to recover their right inferior member's full domain, and the Taiwanese doctors have requested this way it to the unit of physical rehabilitation of the Hospital Loayza of Lima. In Kaohsiung she received a time of rehabilitation and the patient ended up walking by itself, the angle of movement of the knee has increased up to 120 degrees (before the operation, the knot of the knee could not move for the growth of the fabrics).

A NEW SMILE

Later on it will be subjected to a complementary operation to eliminate him a small cyst that still subsists; but the worst thing has happened. She even shines a new smile, because the illness and the emotional and nutritious dysfunctions had made him to lose the superior part of their denture being alone with a tooth. The Mayor of Kaohsiung who visited her in the Hospital after being operated, gave her the dental implants necessary so that it recovered his good aspect, that which was made with techniques, teams and Taiwanese materials.

Now the patient is happy and moved among tears by what calls her new leg and of also knowing that a new life will begin.

When dialoguing with journalists to their return to Lima she has pleasing memories for who they helped her to overcome this dramatic stage of their life. For example, she says that the nurses that took care of it were so kind that until they learned some words in Spanish with her.

During their recovery in Kaohsiung the Peruvian patient was visited also by the Representative of the Commercial Office of the Peru in Taiwan, Mr. José Yzaguirre who expressed her gratefulness to the inhabitants from Taiwan.

TWO PARALLEL HISTORIES

It is worthwhile to mention that the cost of the treatment in Taiwan overcomes the 50 thousand dollars. The whole treatment (including the passage) it was provided by the Hospital E-Da that was founded by Mr. YS Lin.

Mr. Lin is owner of a of stainless steel business. He was subjected to a liver transplant 8 years ago. The transplant achieved so much success that now the one is more active in its work and more prosperous in its business.

It was for it that Mr. Lin decided to build a hospital of first for the poor peasants in the south of Taiwan.

The histories of Mrs. Razzeto and that of Mr. Lin is very dramatic and moving: Both enjoy a new life after having been patients of important surgery.

But in the Case of María Rosario there is something additional. The Solidarity without Frontiers represented by Taiwan, an Asian Nation that it comes demonstrating with facts that it possesses the necessary scientific advance and the social sensibility that justify that will be integrated to the World Organization of the Health, that which comes him being denied by the UN due to the opposition of continental China.
